A Year of Growth: Deferring IDF Service for a Pre-Army Program or Year of Service

Many young people in the community choose to take a year before enlistment to strengthen their connection to their Israeli identity. This is a meaningful period of building resilience, confidence, and personal capability.

It’s important to know that registration for these programs usually closes at the end of March, and requires an official deferral of military service with the IDF.
